What they asked
Our client is a market leader in liquid bulk barging. In 2016, their strategic program introduced new perspectives on customer centricity, operational excellence, and fleet management. Based on these, our client sought support to drive the objectives of all three areas throughout the organization.
What we did
During management team sessions, we defined essential performance metrics. We extracted transactional data and converted data into selected commercial, operational, and fleet metrics. Moreover, we set up a data model in QlikSense and introduced daily, weekly, and monthly performance cycles for managers, sales people, brokers, and planners. Additionally, we developed a forecast and risk-based fleet management model for the CFO to improve the integration of the business perspective with fleet liabilities.
What we accomplished
The entire staff across businesses can access all relevant data and metrics relating to one job in a very user-friendly way. Metrics and insights per load, customer, geography, commodity, ship, and any other angle available from transactional data make customer centricity and operational excellence tangible. Fleet risk exposure and the business perspective are intertwined, so the board and shareholders can better balance the risk and reward associated with fleet or capital invested under varying market circumstances.
