What they asked

Our client is a European steel producer. The many downstream businesses used to work based on different definitions of on-time performance and lead time. They also had different uses of trade conditions. The company wanted to improve the weekly repair cycle by moving to a uniform way of working across all businesses. They asked our assistance in designing a uniform standardised European weekly repair process.

What we did

We clarified all definitions used in the different businesses. We assisted in the decision-making regarding the standardisation of definitions such as on-time performance and customer lead time. We supported the reduction of the number of trade term variants. We drafted the data definitions and data tables to enable the implementation of the designed standardised weekly repair process.

What we accomplished

The measures resulted in a single set of definitions to run a consolidated European weekly S&OP repair process. Another accomplishment was a uniform set of data tables to run the weekly S&OP repair process was another accomplishment. Lastly, we managed to create harmonisation of the trade terms used within the company.
