Realisation of post-merger integration

What they asked

Our client is a global CPG company. They asked our assistance in the post-merger integration of their Dutch and Belgian operating companies. The realignment of their global organisation strategy called for the creation of Multi-Country Operating companies. At the same time, a strong cost focus required a substantial reduction in operating costs. The integration and cost reduction called for standardisation and simplification of business operations.

What we did

A central transformation team was made responsible for drafting and managing the day-to-day management of the transformation roadmap. Functional workstreams were set up under the leadership of functional heads and tasked to deliver an integrated redesign for their function. Cross-functional workstreams were set up to align the main business processes. For each workstream, we standardised approach and tools and ensured timeliness and quality of results. Frequent validation sessions were used to evaluate results and to manage interdependencies.

What we accomplished

The measures taken resulted in a new, integrated organisation blueprint which met the cost reduction targets set. How to operate the organisation was captured in new ways of working. Cross-functional business processes were redesigned and simplified. Go-live and the period immediate following were carefully prepared to ensure a smooth transition. After go-live, adjustments were made to processes based on organisational feedback.
